Cojak is a happy little cactus who doesn't realize that he's got no needles until he gets roughed up pretty badly by a slew of local animals. His paddles hurt and his attitude becomes hardened - he declares he doesn't need anyone! He'll be the meanest cactus in the desert if that's what it takes to protect himself! But a neighboring snake mom who has witnessed Cojak's transformation just might be the creature to help him be himself again.

This touching short story is narrated by Kathryn Winslow.
